Calmera Economic Consultancy and Training is an independent consultancy firm
of Mr. Runy Calmera, with his network of specialized partners.
Mr. Runy Calmera is a senior economist, born on the beautiful island Curacao in the Dutch Caribbean. At the age of 15 he moved to the Netherlands to study and graduated at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 1995. He has a master in Economics, with a major in Economic Policy and Development Planning.
Career
Ministry of Economic Affairs Curacao
He worked for four years as a senior policy advisor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Curacao. During these years he was the project manager responsible for building the macro economic spreadsheet model Curalyse. Over 15 workshops were given to several policy advisors on Curacao and the Caribbean. The model was used for more than 200 policy scenarios, including tax redesign calculations, building of a Mega Cruise pier, hotel investments and a structural adjustment package of the IMF and an tourism investments in a World Bank package for the real sector. Mr. Calmera built a network of contacts with several organizations where macro economic calculations were discussed.
International organisations
In the Netherlands he worked for 10 years as an independent economic consultant for international banks, energy companies, the public and the private sector. He is a certified project manager (PRINCE 2) and has completed several projects for the Rabo Bank, ING bank, Reliant Energy, Dutch Railway, Essent Energy and RWE.
Mr. Calmera’s goal is to help policy makers in the public sector and senior management in the private sector to make strategic decisions and support them to implement those decisions to reach benefits for their organisations. He not only supports managers to take and implement decisions. He goes one step further and sets up and improve their analytical framework, so they can continue to make better decisions. He has a strong focus on getting and organizing all the relevant information about the problem to be solved and brings in several economic spreadsheet models to get the assignment done. He specializes on small island economies in the Caribbean and the tourism sector.
Mr. Calmera lives on Curacao, loves to sail, enjoys the salsa, percussion and music.
