Werkplein Bonaire (10-01 )

Vakcollege Curaçao (10-03)

Vakcollege is set to display new impetus to train a craftsperson. The content of training and experience is realized in close cooperation between the school and the business community but remains within the legal framework of the VSBO and SBO. The program trains students to craft skilled people where the labor market needs. In the Netherlands this pathway a great success and Curconsult asked on Curaçao to act as a trigger / driver of the project. This project will continue in the school year 2011/12, the year will launch a number of pilot projects.

Economic examination of trends in the construction industry in Curaçao in the period 2007-present (10-04)

Conducting economic research into the construction sector (sector study) in Curaçao during the period mid-2007 to 2009 which is to be examined at least:

the presence or timeliness of construction materials on the Curaçao market, both the materials produced here for its products had to be imported and the price development thereof;

developments in the labor market with regard to the construction industry in Curaçao involving the quantity (the number of workers was available in Curaçao to work in construction) and quality (the desired qualifications of the workers versus the delivered or available qualification );

the development in the price of construction materials and wages of workers in the construction industry.

Other economic aspects also play a role taken by Curconsult as research.

On banks (10-05 / 06)

Two studies on the same subject. The subject: the experience of the consumer with the commercial banks in Curacao.

The one study included a quantitative survey among consumers of the island which managed the financial affairs of the household. Asked is to what knowledge they have of the banking products, the experiences were bench where they banked and what the perception was the banks in Curacao. This provided an interesting picture on which broadly emerges that it is moderate given the knowledge of bank products and the consumer is very critical to the couch. In contrast, the image of the banking industry to its customers is generally very positive. In addition to this research Curconsult go mystery shopping at some commercial banks. In that context, we visited seven local commercial banks based on a three-odd cases that were prepared in advance. In all three cases were cases where the client (the mystery shopper) wanted a loan from the bank. This yielded very interesting results about (incomplete) information, customer service and follow-up appointments. And margin is also on the websites of these banks ge-‘shopped ‘which provides virtually no useful information for the customer.

Review Status of Implementation of the Convention on Biodiversity of Dutch Caribbean (10-07)

Commissioned International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Regional Office of Pan Europe has opened an investigation into the progress of the implementation, as this form is given by the Convention on Biodiversity.

At the convention, which the Netherlands participates, as stated aim to have reduced the loss of biodiversity by 2010. To check whether this actually happened in the Netherlands Antilles, it has set this investigation. This study focuses on:

– the current status;

– the process of strategy formulation and planning;

– the relevance of strategies and / or plans and relationships;

– the effectiveness of the implementation;

– the results achieved based on CBD objectives.

Finally, decide on the report and conclusions formed. It is then arise recommendations. This publication is part of an IUCN publication on biodiversity in the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT).

Media research Aruba in 2010 (10-08)

This media research is conducted for the second time in Aruba. The first study was conducted in the second half of 2007. The media research is conducted for a number of large (r) on Aruba incumbents and answers the following question: what audience is reached with the local media (TV, radio, newspaper, internet and Facebook), expressed in terms of frequency, time (s) and location (s).

The results of the study enable companies to use their advertising budgets more effectively. The study took place in the period: August – September and there were 1200+ inhabitants of Aruba aged 16 years and older were interviewed.

Media research Sint Maarten in 2010 (10-09)

This media research is conducted for the second time on St. Maarten. The first study was conducted in the first half of 2008. This media research is similar to media research in Aruba (see 10-08).

Mystery Shopping at a Bank (10-10)

Commissioned a locally based commercial bank, based in Curacao, an investigation has been in the service and information from this bank. These included more to understand the knowledge, experience and perception of consumers in Curaçao on this specific bank where they are banking. To this end a number of cases have been played by our Mystery Shoppers. Because of this was given to understand how the process occurs when applying for various banking products at that particular bank. Programs Training, Education & Training Unit of the Staff New Administrative Organization Curaçao ‘(10-11)

Market research for new catering establishment (10-12)

For one to a market research conducted in Curacao based company the opportunity to establish a new franchise in Curacao in the ‘restaurant / food’sector.

The study pays attention to the following aspects:

– awareness of the franchise;

– market potential in Curacao;

– eating habits on site and to bring the people of Curaçao.

The survey was conducted among 401 residents of Curaçao and five focus group discussions conducted among a diverse audience.

Market research ‘What do you think of 10-10-10? (10-14)

Commissioned a new media market research conducted on the subject, What do the inhabitants of the islands of the Netherlands Antilles that after 10/10/10 will happen?

Will it be better to go to the island when the Netherlands Antilles is dismantled and the islands continue as Pais Korsou, Country Sint Maarten and the BES islands as special municipalities of the Netherlands? In this context, interviewed more than 800 individuals and the following topics are discussed:

what gives the feeling that the Netherlands Antilles will cease to exist;

do you own ties with the other Antillean islands, where these bands consist of;

Are you interested in the developments in other Antillean islands and want to stay informed about these developments;

What is your opinion on the Kingdom level;

what will your opinion be better and some worse after 10-10-10?

For each island there are one or two specific questions that relate to a current issue such as:

the degree of dependence of Kralendijk for Statia and Saba;

the increase in the number of Dutch settles on Bonaire;

the common central bank for Curaçao and Sint Maarten and the choice of the currency (guilders or dollars).

Also asked a number of personal characteristics such as gender, age, education and country of birth.

Customer Satisfaction Survey 2010 Selikor (10-16)

As part of the ISO certification Selikor annually performs an image and satisfaction survey. In accordance with ISO serves every 5 years this image / client satisfaction survey to be conducted by an independent third party. This is for the year 2010 the case where Curconsult Capaz and will act as the third party. The research problem is twofold and is formulated as follows:

What is the image of Selikor in Curacao and the customer is satisfied with the service of Selikor. There is in this study distinguishes between three types of clients: the non-commercial customers, business customers and customers who use the transfer station and landfill (business and private).

Image of Isla Refinery (10-17)

Refinery on Curaçao has existed for over 90 years and provides an important contribution to the Island economy. Up to and including 1985, the refinery was from SHELL. After departure of Shell refinery was the owner of the Island Territory of Curaçao for the price of one Antillean Guilder. In 1986 a contract was signed with PdVSA to operate the refinery. This contract has been extended several times and now runs until 2019. In recent years there has been an increased awareness of the environmental and health problems caused the refinery arise among the people of Curaçao. To find out what Curacao thinks and thinks investigated the refinery among residents and interviews were held with all the authority and many people who are dealing with the refinery on the island. For that reason, to Curconsult asked to update the business location and ditto regulation. Prior to this evaluation is an evaluation takes place. The aim of the mission is to develop an actual business location and a coherent legislative branch in order to stimulate economic activity in Curaçao under optimal and sustainable economic growth. This project was commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Development and will continue in 2011.

Business opportunity Aruba: purchase of commercial building (10-19)

commissioned a project Curconsult has performed an analysis to investment opportunities in Aruba. This involved the sale of a large commercial building that was offered for sale. CHATA Policy Paper 2011 (10-20)

Curacao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA) is regularly confronted in the political discussion on and misconceptions about the importance of tourism, the contribution of the private market in the tourism and marketing to tourism . Curconsult asked to prepare a Policy Paper for CHATA board. This policy paper was presented in early 2011. Topics in this policy paper are:

the economic importance of the sector now and for the future of the island was assuming the Strategic Tourism Master Plan 2010-2014;

determining the rate of CHATA for now and in the medium term that mainly need to focus more attention on marketing, airlift through a private-public partnership.

Request by the Minister of Finance for the opinion of the Banker’s Association of Curacao on dollarization (10-21)

The Minister of Finance of Curaçao to the bankers association Curacao asked to give their opinion on the possible dollarization honor of the Curaçao economy. Commissioned by the bankers association Curconsult with the Bankers Association has formed an opinion conceived and advice on the pros and cons of dollarization. This opinion has been prepared in the form of a draft letter to the Minister of Finance of the Curacao.
